Parkinson's Group

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition with three main symptoms, namely tremor, slowness of movement and stiffness of muscles. This is caused by a small part of the brain called the substantia nigra losing nerve cells and thus leading to a loss of function.

Our mission as the provider of group and individual strength and conditioning programmes to the Waikato is to promote physical abilities of our Parkinson’s Group through the application of scientific training principles and by ensuring our commitment to the MS Group is second to none. Our team values reflect who we are as the Parkinson’s Strength and Conditioning Team and this is reflected in our attitudes and everything we do.

Exercising when you have Parkinson’s is hard. We make coming to the Parkinson’s Group FUN and exercise is then just part of the process.  As a result we are developing a culture of fun and experiences for our Parkinson’s Group members on their every visit.

The Parkinson’s Group and MS Group have combined sessions which are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.00am to 11.30am for further information please email Eileen Barker at Parkinson’s Waikato or phone 07 839 9038.
